Twilight riding
The twilight slowly falls over the property of Sonakull when we ride towards the sunset on the wriggled paths. A scent of forrest and warm horse fills the swedish summer evening.
Right now the chance are the best of meeting some of all creatures living in the forrest like hare, roe deer, fox, moose or was it the mysterius forrest elf that slipped away in the shadows ? Who knows, in any case  you have enriched  you life with humility for nature and the heritage we have to manage and pass on for the future.

Moonlight riding
To have the opportunity to ride out in the forrest a cold winters evening in moonlight is something very special. Everything gets a mysterius glow and the breath from the horses make small clouds spreading among the trees. You can be sure of being observed and maybe we get a glimpse of the fox on hunt for supper.
Back on the farm the warmth is spredding in your hart, cold toes and fingers get help to defrost after the ridning with a hot cup of coffee,  meanwhile the horses chewing on there hay wich gives almost a meditativ feeling.

All winters nights with snow on the ground and full moon.

About us

Sonakull has been in the family for at lest 8 generationes., Here was about 100 years ago a small farm with place for 6-8 cows, a couple of pigs, hens, and 1-2 working horses. Gradually as time changed and it went hard to live in that way, the farm has developed to be a modern horse farm  instead. Grandfather may have had a hard time to understand the use of keeping 12 horses but I hope he would have been proud of the way we manage the heredity.

As a horse owner you have a big responsebility  to watch out for the animals to keep them so prosperous as possible. According to EU law, the horses should be looked after in a way that promotes there health and provides them with the opportunity  to act as natural as possible. There is a lot of understandings to achivie this goals. We try to listen a lot, but most of all we watch our horses, how they feel and acts. Horses are herd animals and enjoy life among others, thats why we keep oure horses in flockes at big areas. For a horse, it is natural to eat most time around the clock and thats why we try to offer them free amount of grass during the day and night. The horses fur is fantastic, when it is cold the fur stands straight outwards to keep the horse warm and when it is raining, the fur drain of the wather. Thats why we don´t  shave our horses and don´t use blankets under normal conditions.

The latest horse careing project is to try and keep our horses bare foot. So far it looks good and we trim the hoofs according to AANHCP.

Our first goal is to keep the horses in good shape and we want oure guests to notice it by prosperous and mellow horses. An important issue that we find interesting is the management of the horses, not at least from a security view. There is a lot of competent models in this subject, for example Parelli that we try to apply to. Another is Klaus F. Hempfling.

The hole family is engaged into the horse keeping and loves to go for a ride in the woods with or without guests.
